    Hi Chazz

    • If it does not turn on after that, try force restarting it:
      • Press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for around 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    • If it still does not turn on, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch serviced under warranty:

    Hi

    Ive had the same problem - thought it was charging until it went dead. However I found that by plugging the charging cable into another usb socket the current wasn't getting through. I plugged the cable into a usb plug and then into the mains and hey presto ..... its charging again

    Which kind of makes life difficult at night if I want to charge all my appliances and have a bedside light available - a usb hub isn't always going to work. Technology eh!

    Hope this helps some of you before you go rebooting, resetting or posting back you're watches.................

    Hi - when charging your watch, check that:

    • All plastic wrap has been removed from both ends and both sides of the charging cable (check closely on the head of the charger).

    charger-plastic-2.gif

    • The back of your watch and the head of the charging cable are clean and dry (clean them with a nonabrasive, lint-free cloth).
    • The charging head is properly aligned with the back of the watch, with the concave / curved side touching it fully:
      • Some watch docks, stands, cases or protectors might hinder this.
    • You are using a genuine Apple Magnetic Charging Cable or an Apple certified magnetic charging module.
    • If you are charging your watch by plugging into mains power:
      • Check that the USB connector on the Apple Magnetic Charging Cable is pushed fully into the USB Power Adapter.
      • Try using different adapters from the following:
        • The genuine Apple USB Power Adapter that was supplied with the watch, or;
        • A genuine Apple 5W (iPhone) or 12W (iPad) USB Power Adapter, or;
        • Apple-certified (MFi) third-party 5W USB power adapter.
    • If charging via a USB port on a computer, ensure that you use a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, the computer remains turned on and awake and the cable is plugged directly into the computer (not into, for example, an external keyboard).
    • If your battery is very low, you may need to wait for a few minutes before the green lightning bolt appears (confirming that charging has started).

    Under normal operation, charging should only take up to around 2.5 hours for a full charge.

    The first screen indicates that charging has started. It is then normal for the screen to sleep (go black) whilst charging continues. You can tap on the screen at any time to temporarily wake the screen and check the charging status.

    The second screen (with the red charging icon) indicates that the watch battery is still very low and needs to be charged.

    If you have followed all of the steps in my previous reply and have left the watch charging for longer than 2-3 hours, try force restarting your watch: press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for around 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    If the issue persists, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch and power accessories checked under warranty:
