Q: I can't import CDs after updating to OSX El Capitan...

Quick summary of what's going on. I have iTunes open and insert the disc in my computer. A couple seconds of the disc sounding like it's being read then- Bam!- the computer ejects the CD. No matter what I try, and I've even experimented with other CDs to be sure if it was a disc issue to no avail, nothing seems to change.

I'm not sure what troubleshooting tips I can try- but here's a list of what I've already done:
1. Cleaned out the CD drive as best I could with a keyboard cleaner

2. Reset the SMC- I don't know how one would know if it was successful or not.
3. Reset the PRAM- again not sure how to be sure if it was successful.

I don't know how else I could go about solving this problem. I've noticed a few other things haven't worked right after the update. My webcam won't load anything more than choppy movements and I have a update for my camera that doesn't seem to want to update as it stops shortly before finishing installation.

From what I gathered, it's an El Capitan issue, but the problem is, I can't downgrade back to Yosemite because me in my infinite wisdom didn't think to make a Time Machine save before the update! Has anyone got any solution I can try?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
