Q: Music tracks imported from CD to direct iPod have disappeared -- and appeared on MacMini?!
Music tracks I converted to mp3s from my CDs using old school iTunes (G4 2003) I recently moved to my 2013 MacMini (MM).
All were moved just as mp3 files, not imported to the iTunes app on the MM.
I then plugged in my new 2015 iPod and moved those files successfully to it directly - this was three months ago.
Today, I looked at my Passport B/U disc and found some Amazon tracks I had purchased and downloaded. I took these files and imported them to iTunes on the MacMini and was amazed to see all the rest of my previously imported CD music and prev. purchased downloads were now in iTunes on the MM.
I thought, cool, everything synced. However, when I went to my iPod again to see if the Amazon tracks had syncd up - they were not there. In fact, everything was gone except that free U2 album. Why is this?
The only change I have made in terms of sync or share with my devices is that I turned on the iCloud to move my photos around, since the iPod and iPad were filling up. (Note: I have never had any music on my iPad, just that free U2 album, which as you know, I didn't download: Apple did that for us all - so it's not effected by this issue.)
Questions are: what the heck happened to my music tracks? Can I get the library back on there?
And if I do, is this going to happen again and again until I concede to Apple's Match service?
It seems I'm being essentially forced to pay for managing music from CDs that I already own, when all I want to do it just have them on my iTunes so I can conveniently listen to them anywhere. I love my old classic iPod. I can load anything and never experience interference from powers 'beyond'. (Though I should probably go check it now - likely has a self destruct button. Grrrr....)
