Well, that's rather odd, since we have numerous reports by posters here telling us they took it to Apple, and that Apple disconnected and reconnected the battery and everything was fine. Don't see why Apple would go to the expense of replacing a phone that was hosed by the user.....

Unless there is more to the story....

yeah idk why they didn't take out the battery but then again when I told them how I bricked my phone, they've never heard of the January 1970 bug and didn't know what else to do. This was a week ago when the bug was fairly new, hopefully now they know how to fix it.

Yeah Gail, and what I'm saying is that you have no business volunteering on this forum if you are going to be rude to people.  Do you get some sort of satisfaction out of putting people down?

No, I don't, and I haven't.  Please don't reverse the question on me.  Also, I was asking Gail.

Funny thing, Apple has apologized for Error 53 and released an iOS update that fixes the issue, so maybe you should change your tune a bit, eh?

Gail, I think you may find that the support document that you linked is in reference to the Error 53, and not the 1970 issue which was the subject of the thread. I may be wrong, but I believe that is being corrected by the battery that Apple is doing in the store. Again, having them pull the battery cable will preserve people's warranty, where as an individual opening up the device will void the warranty.

whoops! You are so right! (eyeroll). I'll see if I can still edit it. Thanks for the heads-up buddy!

So, I can't edit it. Can you report it and ask the Hosts to edit out that last bit? I would be ever so grateful!

Done! I figured since this thread has gone afoul more than once, it gets confusing.

    Sorry arilozner,

Disregard that last post. As was kindly pointed out by ChrisJ4203, I was getting this issue mixed up with another one that has been flooding the forum.

So, here is the link that you would want to try:

    LAWRENCE'S DFU USER TIP

If that doesn't work, then I think if you take it back to Apple now, they would be able to get you sorted.

Best of luck, and sorry about the erroneous link above

As a matter of fact, you were Gail.  You should go back to page 4 on this thread where you directly replied to one of my comments.

I hope all of the "volunteers" here are having a good time speaking for Apple.  As I said, it's priceless that all of you are sitting on here making fun of people for reverting their phones back to 1970 as well as the Error 53 issue, all the while Apple has issued a response apologizing for Error 53 and making it right.  Maybe you guys should take a hint from Apple and learn that customer service is important.  It doesn't matter whether you work for a company or not.  If you are representing them as a "volunteer" for their brand, you should be respectful of their customers.

Or maybe you just don't care...and I feel sorry for you if that's the case.

No, none of us are in any way claiming to represent Apple. That is only your misinterpretation of how the forums work. We all have our own opinions. And you don't represent the Hosts. They are the ones who determine what posts are acceptable and what posts aren't.
