Q: Error in kernel.log deprecated server

Hi again.

 

Does anyone know what this is and what my server wants to tell me.

Im getting this warnings in kernel.log all the time..

Jan 17 22:04:29 server kernel[0]: smb_smb_negotiate: Support for the server KM5D3E7D has been deprecated (PreXP), disconnecting

Jan 17 22:09:50 server kernel[0]: smb_smb_negotiate: Support for the server KM5D3E7D has been deprecated (PreXP), disconnecting

 

 

I assume it trying to contact a server or nas somewhere. Can I make it foregett about KM5D3E7D (dont know what it is refering to) and get on with life?

    This message is likely from your printer. Some printers, including my Xerox Phaser 6500N, still have the ability to use Samba version 1 communications with the workstation. The printer occasionally sends out a "here I am, a cool Samba-communicating printer!" message, and OS X grumbles and writes a message to the log saying it doesn't do that kind of communication anymore (because it's insecure). You can safely ignore these messages.
