Make a Genius Bar Appointment. The article you linked from, mentions that the software update will prevent it from occurring, but that if you already have the issue you need to contact Apple Support. -AJ

    Contact Apple Support.

An upcoming software update will prevent this issue from affecting iOS devices. If you have this issue, contact Apple Support.

SOLUTION: Try restoring via DFU mode and WAIT one or more hours for time to pass in the internal clock, even if the progress bar does not animate.

From the article's comment section, there may be a fix: "I put my iPhone in the 1970 bug mode and sadly, just waiting didn't fix it. However, DFU mode did fix it. The only issue is that after you restore in DFU mode, it will shown an unfilled progress bar for about an hour or so. If you allow the iOS device to sit while connected via USB, it will come back to life."

BTW, please post back to this discussion whether this works or not?

    The same with my phone.

    Did DFU recover.

And left phone to chill with progress bar on screen for 18 hours.

progress bar filled up to 10 % like 12 hours ago and stuck since then.

Waiting for new firmware from apple.

The firmware was not intended to fix the problem. The firmware release was for the Error 53 issue. Also, the upcoming firmware regarding the 1970 issue is to prevent it from happening, not fix what has already happened. You need to take the device to Apple as indicated earlier.

    Thank you, ChrisJ!

I live in Belarus, we unfortunately do not have Apple service.

All that remains for me, if not unix kernel well enter test for negative value of time, I disconnect battery and lose warranty and so I can not use in my country...

Maybe i do not know any other way?

    (Sorry for my English.)

If the iPhone is supported in your country, then there is someone that handles your warranty services. Find out who that is. It is either an Authorized Apple Service Provider, or your carrier. If you have no choices at all for your device, then you will not have a warranty issue. The iPhone warranty is not international, so your warranty would depend on where you purchased the phone. As indicated earlier, DFU mode has corrected the issue for some users, but others are reporting no. You would have to make your own decision.
