Q: POP option for mail account with El Capitan

My earthlink account is a POP email account.  After updating to El Capitan - 10.11 - I lost my email. 

 

When I try to add a new earthlink email account I only get an IMAP account.  Under preferences is says "Account type IMAP" - there is no option to change that top a POP account.

 

How do I get my email back ???????

    1/1/16 Thought I add my solution: When upgrading to El Capitan I had 3 pop email accounts fail to connect, saying bad user name or password. Was about to archive them and build new ones from scratch (as u/n and passwords were correct) when I right-clicked on the mailbox in the left column (Mailboxes) and chose "Edit <mailbox name>". There I found that the use SSL box was unchecked and it was trying to connect on port 110. Checked the 'Use SSL" box and it changed the port to 995, which I let it do. Clicking close/save and the mailbox connected and all was/is well.

    Harvey 137, I just wanted to thank you for all the time and effort you put into helping out here! 

     

    I have been incredibly busy, and believe it or not have not had time until today to finally resolve this (I first added my posts in October!).  But I was able to resolve it today with your help, and I am very grateful!!!  Thanks!!

    Harvey, I cannot thank you enough.  Your suggestion allowed me to connect to Earthlink on the VERY FIRST try with my new machine. I returned a defective machine this AM. I decided to take the new machine rather than a refund. Did a lot of research today. Your post did the trick! Thank you very much for sharing .
