Q: How do I make my iWeb site alive again?

Hi Guys,

+ I have a site created in iWeb, latest editing was autumn 2014.

+ the site is visible at www.mimage.dk without any problems

+ now I would like to edit the site again

++ I access the site with CuteFTP and use the name/password I get from my site provider

++ I see no files at my site in CuteFTP, however, I can copy files to the site in /public-html/ or /public-html/files

+++ How do I get on with this

The site is made with Adobe Muse.

    http://www.mimage.dk

But whatever your site is, you cannot import HTML files into iWeb.

    iWeb uses a domain.sites2 file. It's here :

    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/

where ~ is your HOME directory.

If it's not there, then you may have a backup.

Try iWebSites to see what it finds :

    Thanks for your reply.

+ You are quite right, i did the latest ed. in Muse - that is why the graphics were so nice (to my mind at least) and easy to make

+ how do I get back to the site with muse - I really cannot remember anything

++ I just opened Muse CC and I haven't found the way out

++ but that is of cause an Adobe question

+++ OK the iweb folder does not exist anymore, because my MBP 15 went down and I had to recover the data to an ext. HD

+++ I will now check that HD

+++ will I actually need to go back and use iWeb, if Yes, from where can I download

No, if you have an Adobe Muse website, then you will not have to download iWeb from anywhere.

iWeb cannot be downloaded anyway from anywhere, except for updates.  iWeb is unsupported software and has been for the last 3 to 4 years now and has not been updated for 6 years.

If you wanted iWeb, then you would have to go to Amazon and purchase either the iLife 11 or iLife 09 boxed set which both contain iWeb 09, but now I'm not really sure why you would want to anyway.

If you can't remember how to use Adobe Muse, then go to the forums on Adobe - sure they must have them and ask or failing that, you can go on Amazon and find a book on Adobe Muse and how to use it.  I purchased one on there once to get an overview of it, but decided against using it.  You could get the kindle edition, so you can use it instantly.

Thanks a lot - I'm back on track with Muse CC up running !

But how do I transform an existing iWeb site into something that from now on can be published through Muse CC?

You can't and you don't.  You just carry on using Muse and as far as I know Muse has no import facility either.

The two programmes are separate, so you make the decision to use one or the other.
