Q: How can i fix camera roll and album if it says that there are no photos or videos although they are showing only in the Moments

When i open photos section in iphone 4s, iOS 9.2.1,  it shows "No photos or videos" on Albums , as well as camera roll and recently deleted photos are not showing, only moments, in the Photo section?

I cannot see camera roll or any albums that I have made before, they all are gone somehow.

Please help!!

    Hi fairtyapple,

It sounds like you are using the Photos app on your iPhone and no longer see your camera roll or previous photo albums yet you do see the pictures in Moments.

Are you using iCloud Photo Library at this time?

From  Get help with your iCloud Photo Library - Apple Support

What happened to the Camera Roll album on my iOS device?

When you turn on iCloud Photo Library, the Camera Roll album is replaced with an All Photos album. The All Photos album gives you the same compact scroll view, now with all your photos and videos organized by the date you add them.
What happened to the My Photo Stream album?

When you turn on iCloud Photo Library, all of your original photos and videos are organized in one library. My Photo Stream uploads recent photos to share with your devices that don't have iCloud Photo Library enabled.

You may want to scan that complete article for more information on iCloud Photo Library.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

No, I didn't do anything. I have never switched on iCloud library. I just plugged in the iphone to friends computer to charge it and when I opened the Photo app, all the albums were gone. But the interesting thing is that when i open VSCO cam or Instagram to upload a photo, I can still see my albums as they were before. It seems like it is a bug or something but I tried restarting the phone few times and I even upgraded it to the newest iOS but it still doesn't work.

It sounds like your phone was synced to your friend's iTunes. Possible?

Might be , but i have charged in my photo via that friends computer many times and it hasn't happened before. And i didn't do anything different this time. Is this even fixable? But the sync with the computer should have deleted all photos not just put a bug on albums folder or something, because i can see those albums and camera roll and favorites when i access photos via other apps like Instagram or Vcso cam. Those albums are not deleted, I just cant see them in Photo app.

I would do a hard restart and then a reset all settings to see if that resets your photos app.

Hard restart = home button + sleep/wake button for 5-8 seconds.

Settings > general > reset > reset all settings after that. No data loss other than your wifi password, custom photo on home screen and any "remember me's" in Safari.

Would that delete my conversations in Whatsapp and Messenger and recent photos?

I did the full restart and reset of all settings. Didn't do anything for the Photo app. But if i search in the Moments for one of my albums, it still appears as it was there but the Albums section is still clear with no content.
