Q: Macbook Air sufficient for basic editing on FCPX?

I have a Macbook Air with 4GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536MB card and 1.6 GHz Core i5 processor, 121 GB of flash storage.

Can  I run FCX on this setup with an external monitor? It'll be basic editing, no 4K or anything.

Thanks

For basic editing, yes. The 4GB of RAM are a  limiting factor, though; and you will need an external drive for your media. Make sure it is USB3 or Thunderbolt.

Don't forget that you can  also edit on iMovie which you already have.

iMovie is a simplified version of FCP X  .  .  .  actually it's really the other way round, FCP X is a more advanced version of iMovie.

Many people find iMovie is more than sufficient for their editing requirements.
