Q: how do I back up email settings for transfer to a new iphone

I should soon be upgrading from iPhone 4S to iPhone 5, and would like to transfer my email settings and personal ringtone to the new phone.

I have setup iCloud backup, but I don't think it backs up the email settings or ringtone.

I am having considerable trouble trying to download and install iTunes on this Windows 7 PC.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1

    Hi Petlew,

Your best option is to back up your iPhone 4s with iTunes, because this is the only way to access your ringtones.

Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device

Here is some additional information for installing iTunes for Windows.

If you can‘t install or update iTunes for Windows

    Take care,

    Thank you Judy,

However, the error I am getting is:

    Application support not found

Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall

    iTunes then install iTunes again.

    Error 2

I have done this several times without success. I do not have an option the "save" after downloading the setup file only "run"

I have searched for Apple Application Support (Apple and Google) again without success.

My Windows 7 is fully up to date with updates.

My browser is Firefox latest version. Should this make any difference.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Nope!! didn't work.

Fully uninstalled previous attempts before trying again. Have the same error message. Unable to open the app.

New iPhone (5C) arrives tomorrow. Suspect I will have re-installed email settings and personal ring-tone from scratch before iTunes is working on this computer.

    Hi Judysings,

As part of the uninstall process I decided to delete any iTunes files in my download folder. In there I found the Apple Application Support (AAS) file.

I opened the file and installed the programme, this was followed by another install (as part of the AAS installation) of iTunes. This I am pleased to say was successful. So I now have iTunes installed on my computer. It seems the AAS did not install as part of the earlier iTunes attempted installations.

However I think the route I used was a bit unconventional.

Now to back-up the required components on my iPhone.

    Regards
