    Thanks very much.

This worked perfectly for my Cannon MP620 Printer.

The only thing I had to do not listed was when I added the printer again I was asked what model as the MP620 wasn't listed I tried the MP640. It works perfectly.

    you were lucky jdberker

I installed el capitan on my imac and apart from that a report crashes EVERY TIME on start up.

programs who used to work on El Capitan after several weeks either stop working or are not working correctly.

My printer is a Canon IP4700 and worked ok except that it prints the wrong colours with photographs and documents.

Had a bank form to print and all grey shaded blocks came out totally black, unreadable.

Thanks a bunch Apple, think I stick to Linux, my old Acer running Linux prints perfect on the same printer.

Step 2 is not a search in Finder, but uses the "Go To Folder" menu command found under "Go" main menu item:

2  Open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder. Then type the following and press the Go button

    /Library/Printers/Canon

    Hope that works for you

The instructions are for a Canon LBP printer that uses Canon's CAPT driver. Do you have a Canon LBP?

How do I find out which one I have?

Canon LBP printers have their model number on the front panel or top panel. So if you can reply with the model number, I should be able to tell you if it uses the CAPT printer driver or some other Canon driver.

I followed the instructions posted by Shane but after I downloaded that updated driver I wasn't able to finish the upgrade. in the RomVUp application, when I first clicked "Next" to go through the install, on the next screen it was stuck on the "Upgrading the printer functions" step and would not allow me to select "Start" to finalize the install. The "Start" button between "back" and "Cancel" remained grayed-out!!

Can someone please help me?! I really need my printing capabilities back and my printer worked perfectly prior to my El Capitan upgrade!

With Apple on the phone, I had to download and reinstall the driver for HP7520 printer.  Very tricky.   Then the printer started to work.  But even since then, I have intermittent problem that causes printer to not respond.  Message is that Printer is not connected - but it definitely is on the network, etc., etc.  It worked 2 minutes ago, then it just stops finding the printer.  Restarted printer doesn't help, but restarted the computer (alas) most often works.  Extremely time consuming, not to say annoying.

My Canon D460 also would not work with WiFi after I installed El Capitan. Your solution of using the HPJetDirect-Socket worked great! Thanks for the tip.

I don't know why Apple engineering is so stupid as to break something that has worked fine for generations of OS X.

I have yet to get my Epson NX420 to work either. With El Capitan it doesn't recognize the Epson ink cartridges and won't print.

I'm not pleased with El Capitan. I haven't seen any improvement in anything.
