Q: My ICLOUD stored photos from a previous Iphone are gone from ICLOUD

I upgraded to Iphone 6.  I had ICLOUD storage before on my other Iphone with photos saved.  After upgrading and switching to the new phone, those photos are no longer in my ICLOUD storage.  What happened to them?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2.1

    Welcome to the Apple community.

Were you using photo stream. Photo stream in the cloud only keeps photos for 30 days, could this explain things.

My photos are automatically uploaded and saved. I don't select where they were saved. The current Icloud account linked to my present phone has photos on there back to October 31st of 2015 so I assume it is not the photo stream you mentioned.

If you go to iCloud.com/Photos are the photos there? If so, make sure Photos syncing is selected in Settings/iCloud. If it is, try Settings/iCloud and slide off syncing. Wait a few minutes and then resync.

Have you tried signing out of iCloud and then sign back in?

Yes the photos are there. I do not see anything that says photo syncing.  And the other phone is not listed. So maybe that is why the "sync" setting isn't there to turn on or off.  And yes, I've signed in and out several times.

Even though Icloud shows my photos from 10/31/15, my Iphone settings is set to automatically upload new photos and send them to all my icloud devices.  This is under the heading of "Upload to My Photo Stream", and this is the only Icloud device I have.  Of course I still have the old phone, but it is not activated.

Please start by telling us your “iCloud Photo Library” and “My Photo Stream” settings on all of your devices. (Settings > Photos & Camera on your iOS device and Photos > Preferences > iCloud on your Mac)

Please also advise if there is any ongoing sync activity on any of your devices (Activity includes uploading, updating, downloading or preparing).

under Icloud settings on my Iphone : "Icloud drive" OFF, Photos ON.  Under ICLOUD, and Photos on my iphone setting "upload to my photo stream" is turned on.

On my PC when I log into Icloud, and click on settings, then select photos, all my photos taken since I switched to this phone pop up. Under settings, there is nothing that asks me to turn anything off or on. On Icloud.com on my PC there is no place that says preferences under photos or settings and it is a PC not MAC in case that matters.

iCloud Drive is something different altogether, do you have 'iCloud Photo library' enabled on the phone. If not then you are only using photo stream.

As I already suggested photo stream in the cloud only keeps photos for 30 days. However the photo stream album on your phone will keep them for longer (up to 1,000 photos), so your old phone may have had photos going back a lot longer than 30 days but since your new phone is downloading them from the cloud not your old phone it only has access to 30 days worth.

Photo stream doesn't put any photos on iCloud.com, so if you have photos there and don't have iCloud photo library enabled on your phone it may be your PC that is putting them there. I don't have a PC, but essentially you are looking for the equivalent setting to this...

That image suggests there is an incomplete sync, is that just how it was when you took the photo or does it stay like that.

Just to recap on the problem; you have your photos from your older devices in the cloud and can see them at iCloud.com, you just can't see them on your phone.

That's how it looks all the time.  Photos from previous device that I used to be able to see in the cloud are not visible in the cloud or on this phone.

OK, so any photos that are waiting to download from the cloud won't do so until those waiting to upload have completed. Your phone says it is waiting for wi-fi to upload the remaining photos, have you tried connecting it to wifi.

that is a temporary situation.  We moved over the weekend and do not have wireless at the house yet, nor am I able to access it at work.  But this screen looks the same now as it did when I did have wireless.

Are you saying that even when you had wifi, it was showing that you had photos yet to upload.
