Q: free cloud space but photos not uploading

Hi Guys

i have an iphone 5c 8gig, its always short of storage space so i purchased 50 gig of cloud storage, when my phone is short of space i get a message in the icloud settings that space is short, uploading x photos,

so right now, i have 30 gig of free cloud space, and my phone suggests i have 46 photos to upload, its been giving me this message for 4 days, i have rebooted the phone and nothing is changing. There is a period on my cloud photo time line that indicates i have took no no photos, obviously the 46 stuck in my phone

why cant i delete the photos from my phone like  before, now i get the warning if i delete i lose the photos in the cloud too.

this is just not good enough,

how do i get these static photos on to the cloud?

do i have to delete some music or apps to free memory to get the phone to work properly?

thanks

You may have needed space on the iPhone for the upload to work.

    HI Eric.

thanks mate, I am informed 24 hours later now, that I have 53 photos to upload, my adsl is working perfectly,

its it's just not good enough Apple, I should have the option of deleting from my phone without being threatened by removal from the cloud.

    thanks

    No

the entire purpose of iCloud Photo Library is to keep all libraries identical so of course there is no option to not do that - for devices with limited storage you use optimized photos on that device

ICPL is clearly documented and all changes made on any device will be made on all devices

    NO

the software is not fit for purpose  Larry,

i have 5 gig of free storage even though this is my third I phone, wow talk about loyalty points,  but hey ho, when I received this notification a few weeks ago, I purchased 50 gig of storage and yet here we are again, 53 photos to  upload still, 1 gig of free space on the phone , 33 gig of free cloud space, and I still can't delete the photos just off my phone.

pretty sure it's meant to work better than this

    heres a new one,

hours ago ago I phone suggests I have 53 photos to upload,

i took a picture of a business card and it say 54 photos to upload, then a minute later it's back to 53

so I go on iCloud on my laptop and Lo and behold the business card is there, dated March 30 2016.

my photos have been imported to Windows when I was charging my phone off the laptop, I always toggle erase after syncing, Windows says it can't erase the photos as there is a problem, skip all files with problems etc,

great, so what shall I do now?

Make a new smart album (file menu ==> new smart album) for Photo is unable to be uploaded to iCloud to see what they are - that may help figure this out

    HI larry

thanks mate I do appreciate you trying to help me,

in the end I took the phone back to factory reset and restored my contacts only, I got iTunes to treat it as a new phone not a restore.

SO I plugged the phone in to iTunes and added 7 apps, and sync my music   and then  I go in to summary it tells me it's capacity is 5.24 gig and my apps are 466Mb, my music 1.8 Gb it informs me that I have 1.36 gig of OTHER and 500Mb of documents and data and finally 955Mb of photos, leaving just 230 Mb of available storage,

so when I use explorer on Windows it suggests this is a 7.3 gig device, I explore the DCIM folder, and it contains 28 folders all with the last few photos I took before the restore, is this ok?

and does this allocation of storage on the device sound in order to you ?

is the 955mb  of storage for photos, the thumbnails related to the photos living in the cloud.

sorry if I was ratty yesterday.
