Q: El Capitan upgrade also upgrades PHP and causes problems

Hi,

The upgrade to El Capitan automatically changed PHP 5.4 to PHP 5.5.  Now all my web development fails with errors like this:

8192] mysql_connect(): The mysql extension is deprecated and will be removed in the future: use mysqli or PDO instead

Some backward compatibility would have been nice!

Is there any parameter that can be set to overcome this?

If not, is there a simple way available to downgrade PHP from 5.5 to 5.4?

Thanks for your help.

mysql and mysql are still part of PHP 5.5.3 which comes with El Capitan and OS X Server 5. This warning only says that the mysql extension will be removed in the future. For time being your PHP scripts using mysql will work just fine.

Are you having any actual issues besides this warning message?
