Q: iPhone 6s plus wifi disconnect after locking

I recently bought iphone 6s+ and running iOS 9.2.1..Whenever I lock (sleep) my iPhone,wifi automatically disconnects and when I unlock or press power button,it automatically connects..I dont think it is any kind of feature bcoz I am having delayed notifications due to this from apps like whatsapp,gmail etc..

Is it normal behaviour from iphone?

Android have 'keep wifi during sleep' option..I am missing that badly :(

Please help anyone..

P.S. battery saver mode is off..background app refreshing is on for all apps..I even tried reset all settings and network settings..what should I do?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.2.1, India

    Yes, that is the way the iPhone works. When the phone goes to sleep, WiFi disconnects and the phone switches to cellular data. Your notifications should work over cellular data. If you want WiFi to remain connected when the phone goes to sleep, plug it in.

    FALSE.

    It's a legend.

    No device in the world disconnect the WIFI connection during standby.

    The problem are some routers (and some settings in them). iPhone and iPad are made to STAY always connected to wifi to use handoff and other things.

    I had the same problem too and:

    1) In my house iPhone and iPad disconnected WIFI during stand by;

    2) In my office they stay ALWAYS connected;

    3) My mom house too;

    So the problem it's NOT iPhone but it's the ROUTER.

    I solved the problem by changing router (or you can buy Airport too).

    So, STOP sayin' it's normal and stop sayin' it's for "battery save" because IT'S NOT TRUE.

    As I always say: THE PROBLEM IS ALWAYS THE ROUTER.

    No device in the world drops wifi when in stand by mode

    Happy to be useful.

    Yeah yeah, but the fact is: the iPhone DON'T drops wifi connection when in stand-by mode and if it does that the problem is THE ROUTER and NOT the device.
    And, anyway, my iPhone (and a lot of others iPhone) stay ALWAYS connected to wifi...ALWAYS.

    Wrong. The WiFi radio in the iPhone is designed to power down when the phone is in standby and not connected to an external power source. That's the way it's supposed to work. Not doing so would cause excessive drain on the battery. WiFi draws power when connected whether there is any active communication or not. Cellular data does not.

    Ok, so my iPhone, my iPad, and another 233894 my friends iPhone are all special

    Ok ok but I repeat: my iPhone is ALWAYS connected to wifi.

    Whatever. You can believe what you want. It won't alter reality at all.

    I believe what I see: my iPhone and my iPad are (now) always connected to the wifi even after 10 hours in stand by mode.
