Q: Clean Reinstall of El Capitan on Mac Mini.

Hi folks.

I am thinking about reinstalling El Capitan on my Mac Mini, to clear up a few sluggish issues and get it running a little faster and smoother.

Having said that, i am worried about it going wrong/bricking it etc, after reading a few horror stories about the clean reinstall going wrong.

Could someone give me a definitive walk through on a clean reinstall.

I am running a Mac mini (Late 2014), 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Backup your drive with time machine before you do any of this

if your system qualifies for the OS upgrade (if it's a 2014 it does) there are two ways you could do this
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) [3,1]

Internet recovery, wipe the drive, install the default OS that came with your computer, then update to 10.11.3
Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery - Apple Support

or install 10.11.3 on bootable media, wipe the drive, proceed with the install
Create a bootable installer for OS X - Apple Support

either of these methods should not brick anything, I'm not sure what you read or where you read it.
