Q: Freeserve email no longer working with El Capitan

Hi,

Hope someone can help.

Just upgraded to El Capitan. All went reasonably well, just took time to do.

However with Mail, my mac account is all ok, one other email account we have on there is also ok, but we have an number of old Freeserve / fsnet email accounts that we still use for various things, but for some reason none of them are working.

Occasionally in the past we have had to re-activiate these accounts via orange webmail (now EE), but on our other Macs that we haven't yet upgraded to El Capitan they are still working ok. Has anyone any thoughts what the problem may be and what I can do.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your message, but unfortunately no help I'm afraid.

I've also checked the settings against one of our other Mac's to see if anything has changed and there are no differences at all.

Basically the Macs using Mountain Lion are all ok, so the problem is definitely to do with El Capitan!!!

    Not Happy!! :-(

I have updated to el capitan today 23/2/16 and my mail was not working. The iMac is 2009 and I run CS3 so I was concerned about them, but they are all ok. I did have to download a java 6 after being prompted by indesign.

The mail did not want to work , but I remembered that my iPhone needed the servers changing from the old freeserve and so I went to EE apple mail - set up broardband and sure enough the incoming and outgoing were now orange. I added a new account just as the ee page suggested and bingo it worked. You do have to disable the original account and enable the new one.

    Hope this works for you
