Q: restoring back up from itunes to new iPhone 6s (

Hi-

Just got my new iPhone 6s via mail and want to restore my old phone's backup.  Hooked up the phone to iTunes as prompted and receive a message from iTunes that I need a newer version to update it.  My version is 12.2.2 and when I click to update, I receive a message that it is the most current version.

Anyone know how to solve for this?  I have an iMac OS X 10.7.5.

Is it because my Mac is old/old operating system?

iPhone 6s, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

    Yes, you are exactly right.

The current iTunes version is 12.3.2.  Running it requires at least OS X 10.8.5.  (Current is OS X 10.11.3.)

Consider keeping your Mac current if possible.

    Hi -

Thanks for the response.  Does this also impact my ability to restore an iCloud back up?  I tried to do that and received a message that states its incompatible.

iOS9 on a mobile device requires iTunes 12.3 or higher which in turn requires a computer running OSX 10.8.5 or higher.  System Update only checks for updates for the current system version you are running but that itself may be out of date.  It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the required system:

You can either buy a download code for OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion from Apple online, or you can try installing the free El Capitan OSX 10.11.  El Capitan may run slower on older machines and require additional RAM purchase.  Doing a big jump in system versions is also more likely to affect old software.

You should be able to restore an iCloud backup.  I don't know why you are getting that message. To me it sounds as if you were trying to restore a backup from a newer iOS version to a device with an older version, but if this is a new iPhone the iPhone should have the latest iOS.
