Q: "no mountable file systems" downloading Trial Version

I'm trying to install the free trial version of Final Cut Pro onto my mid-2014 13" MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) to see how it runs before purchasing the full version. The download says it will take upwards of 17 hours and then "finishes" after around 20 minutes but when trying to open the .dmg file it gives me the error "no mountable file systems." I've been in this loop for a couple hours now and it's beginning to frustrate me.

Is this a problem with my connection timing out or something wrong with my computer or is there something going wrong on the other end?

-Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

You clearly ended up with a corrupt dmg.

Hard to say, but these issues tend to clear themselves out. I suggest you wait a few hours and then try again.

This is a fairly big download. If you have a slow and unstable connection, long downloads are more likely to fail. How big is the dmg you ended up with?

After multiple tries last night the largest .dmg i got was a .2 GB file (nowhere near the 2.6 GB file projected). I knew there was no way it was a good download. I've tested my connection and it's supposedly downloading around 39mb/s with my wifi.

I may just download it to my external harddrive from a wired connection on another computer and move it over since my macbook doesn't have an ethernet port.

    Thanks for your response!
