Aug 3, 2015 8:01 PM in response to Precellyby Reed James,In all honesty I really think there is some variation in something between different devices or versions of the account.
I reenter my password a good 6 or 7 times before getting a log in almost every time. Afterwards I right down exactly what I entered and then put that exact password in somewhere else and 6 or 7 slight variations later.... I log in.

Aug 23, 2015 11:21 AM in response to randers4by Tuppy,Hello: Can't believe I am joining a two year old post with the exact same problems that people had in 2013 - namely that I was stupid enough to change my AppleID password and then to try to change my iCloud password - but now I can't log into iCloud. Why on earth is there a separate iCloud password? Why is iCloud not a subset of the Apple ID password/account? Why has this not been fixed in the last two years? so anyway, Apple ID changed successfully - but epic fail on iCloud change and now unable to access iCloud services.
I'm currently using iOS 8.4.1. Instructions were given back in 2013 (quoted below) and I'm wondering whether these are still good for 8.4.1:
If you have an old ID (email address) in Settings>iCloud as a result of updating to iOS7, you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password. (Randers 4).

Dec 6, 2015 12:58 PM in response to Tuppyby sage0812,I also am sitting here with the same problem 2 years later - I have tried Apple Tech Support and they don't know how to fix it either. For some reason the suggested solution isn't working for me either. I would like to just delete my "old" iCloud account since it is different ID from my now current Apple ID, but am unable since I don't know the password. To complicate matters worse the email attached to my old iCloud account is obsolete so I can't get email confirmations. If anyone has a solution please post . . .

Feb 7, 2016 5:05 PM in response to randers4by katyekat,I tried to follow your instructions, but when i tried to edit and change it back to my old email address (I no longer have that email address), the prompt was "this email address is currently being used with another apple id" or something similar to that. Do you have any other suggestions? I really want to get rid of this old iCloud id because I have no idea what the password is and like I said before, I deleted that email acct. a while ago. Thank you in advance if you have a response and are able to help me....grrr...so frustrated!!!

Apr 28, 2016 1:08 AM in response to 003audreyby tumtum7,I hope this is useful as i had a similar problem on my iphone (IOS9.1).
The email address for itunes/app store was different from the one linked to the icloud i.d. i couldnt't remove or sign out of icloud due to forgetting the icloud i.d password(resets etc didn't work). The icloud i.d was an old email address which was no longer in use(apparently been disabled) but i was able to access it through the old password used on outlook.com which then asked me to send a verification code to a phone number of my choice so i could access the email account.
After i was allowed access to the old email account(linked to the icloud i.d) i then went on appleid.apple.com logged into my new/current email address (itunes/app store i.d) , changed the email address that was linked to this account back to my old email address (icloud i.d), so that now the itunes/app store and icloud i.d's were under the same (old) email address- but the password remained the same as it was on my current (new) itunes/app store i.d. i logged into icloud on my iphone with the old email address but new/current password , turned off find my iphone signed out and deleted the account from the phone , then went back to appleid.apple.com and changed the apple i.d back to my current email address and it allowed me to sign back into itunes/app store i.d and icloud i.d both under my new/current email address and password.
i think it only works if you can access your old email linked to the icloud i.d because when you change emails you get verfication codes to confirm the changes. DO a full back up to a computer beforehand just incase.
i don't think i have missed anything out and i hope this helps many people
