Q: iMessage using iCloud address instead of phone number on ipad

IiMessage just started using I cloud address instead of phone number on iPad. iPhone works fine. how do I fix this?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 9.2

What do you currently have selected in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > 'Start New Conversations From' ?

3 Email addresses and I can not put in a phone number. There is no "start conversations from"
