Q: Can't save to favorites

I'm on a imac and upgraded to ElCapitan. I'm trying to save a web site to my favorites and when I click on the share tab in the top right corner of the tool bar it says " no service"

How do I fix this I have checked everything I know to check. Thanks

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), Memory 20G

To save something to your Favorites, go up to View --> Show Sidebar.  You see something that looks like this:

Obviously you won't have my bookmarks, but click on the sideways arrow next to the star.  Go to whatever website it is you want to add.  Click in the address bar and drag the little icon that is to the extreme left into your favorites section.  Let's say I want to add Yahoo to my Favorites.  I would go to Yahoo, click in the address bar, and drag the little purple Y into my favorites.

Voila!  Now I have added something to my Favorites.  You would the same.

Please follow the instructions in this support article. Instead of typing the shell command directed in the article, I suggest that you copy and paste it from the web page into the Terminal window. Make sure you select the whole line. One way to do that is by triple-clicking anywhere in the line.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before proceeding. You may have to log out or restart to see a change.
