Q: After running migration assistant, do I need to copy files from 'Shared' old mac image to my new mac?
I ran migration assistant, but the image shows up as 'Shared' for my old iMac with an option to eject next to it. Does this mean when I eject it, it's gone? In other words, do I need to copy the files from the "Shared" location to my new macbook so that I can just eject the imac and be good to go? Thanks.
Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Correct assuming the old iMac is running and online. I don't know what you believe is on the iMac that did not migrate over. Migration Assistant should migrate your entire Home folder from the old machine. Did you check to see if all your data was migrated?
The image is in the Finder because the iMac is on your network and has one or more shared folders and File Sharing is enabled.
