To share content with AirDrop, both people need one of these devices using iOS 7 or later, or a Mac with OS X Yosemite or later:
- iPhone 5 or later
- iPad Pro
- iPad (4th generation) or later
- iPad mini or later
- iPod touch (5th generation) or later
You also need to turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If you want to share with your contacts, sign in to iCloud.

You never specified the OS of your MAC.

AirDrop system requirements
To send items to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you need a 2012 or newer Mac model with OS X Yosemite or later, excluding the Mac Pro (Mid 2012).
To send items to another Mac, you need:
- MacBook Pro (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2008)
- MacBook Air (Late 2010) or newer
- MacBook (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the white MacBook (Late 2008)
- iMac (Early 2009) or newer
- Mac Mini (Mid 2010) or newer
- Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)

Feb 25, 2016 11:52 AM in response to Granny Pegby rockmyplimsoul,If your equipment meets the requirement, and you still have trouble, try forgetting your Wi-Fi network on your iPhone only (leave Wi-Fi on, just disconnect from the network that your Mac is connected to). In my experience, when two devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network AirDrop is very iffy.
