Q: I do have final cut studio v 2.0.1. Now I have upgraded to El Capitan and it seems that my version of final cut does not work anymore.

Final Cut Studio V2.0.1 does not work with El Capitan

Mac mini (Early 2009), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

    Tends to happen when you go FIVE OS versions past the one that officially supports it. Now, I do know of people still using FCP 6 on El Cap...the installed the OS over the current OS, meaning they were on 10.5 or 10.6...something prior to 10.11 where FCP 6 was working...and updated to 10.11. But Motion and Compressor and QMaster won't work, nor will Livetype. Those broke at 10.9.  Installing FCP 6 on El Cap...there are ways to do it. Look at some of the very recent posts here to see how.

     

    But really, FCS 2 is VERY old software, 8+ years old. best to run it on the OS that supports it. If you need to run El Cap, best to get editing software compatible with that version.

     

    This is true of ANY software. My Microsoft word 2004 is wonky under 10.9....I need to update.
