Your issue and ultimate goal here is unclear. What does "The file is showing just a file when burned to a DVD on the other system, but shows as QuickTime on the iMAC. mean to you?
Are you saying the file plays on one system but not the other or are you saying the Finder icon looks different but the file still plays on both or that the Finder icon looks different and the file won't play on the "other" system? Are you trying to play the file directly from the DVD and is so did you optimize it for CD/DVD ROM playback? What player are you trying to use for playback—QT 7, QT X, or the DVD player? If the DVD player, did you "author" the disc? Are both systems operating under the same OS? If trying to play the file in the QT 7 player, do both systems have the same codec configuration? Please provide more details...

Feb 25, 2016 4:02 PM in response to tracyfromusaby tracyfromusa,I converted a VHS tape to a QuickTime movie using Diamond video capture for MAC OS. The movie is saved on my iMAC as a QuickTime movie file. I then burned the movie to a DVD and the movie file on the DVD shows that is it is QuickTime file after I burned it to the DVD. I have another computer, HP. I downloaded the QuickTime application to it in order to see the movie on the HP. When the DVD is opened on the HP, the movie file does not show that is it a QuickTime file. It just says file, unable to read/play the movie file.

A QuickTime file is an MOV file containing any valid combination of compression formats compatible with the codec configuration of the system on which it was originally created. What codecs did the "Diamond" hardware/software use to create the MOV file on the iMac and were these codecs installed as part of the QT 7 Player installation package? If not, then export the captured video on the iMac using compression formats compatible with both systems or use a third-party player like VLC on your HP if the codecs used in the original file transfer are supported by the FFmpeg open source codec package built into the VLC player.
