Feb 26, 2016 10:06 AM in response to zinacefby ryr11,The problem is not with Find my Friends. It's with Find my iPhone. Is there a way to disable find my iPhone in a way where I can still use it, but no one in my family is able to?

Feb 26, 2016 10:22 AM in response to ryr11by javaliga,From this article:
Family Sharing - Apple Support
it doesn't appear so. It says "With Family Sharing and Find My iPhone, any family member can help locate another member’s missing device." It seems Apple intends it to work that way. I don't see any other options in:
Use Restrictions on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

But if he can't log into the app, he can't send you the alert. Log out of the app on his phone/iPad or out of iCloud on the computer he uses. Then, change the iCloud password. He will then not be able to log in.

I assumed from the OP he was using Family Sharing and not a common AppleID. If I assumed wrong, then of course you are right. He should be using Family Sharing instead.

No, you're correct. I missed that. Shouldn't be trying to post and eat greasy pizza at the same time.
I'd take away the kid's device until he behaves but I've been told I'm unreasonable.

Feb 26, 2016 11:24 AM in response to ryr11by anypats,To use Find My iPhone to another device they will need your Apple ID and password. I would suggest changing your password and then he won't be able to send Find My iPhone alerts to you. This will not affect Find My Friends as no password is needed for them to add you as a friend.

Feb 26, 2016 11:53 AM in response to javaligaby anypats,Wow. I didn't know that my kids could ping my devices on Family Sharing. Tested and sure enough I was able to do it. Learned something new. I'm not going to show them this. Looks like they can even enable Lost Mode and Erase my devices if they wish.

Feb 26, 2016 11:55 AM in response to ryr11by LACAllen,If you disable location services, nobody can find you. The Family Sharing thing is on or off. No in between I'm afraid.
If it's just your little brother, maybe tape his fingers together for a few days to make your point that his behaviour is affecting you. It's what we would call a teachable moment. Sometimes technology can't solve what is really a chance to parent somebody.
If you want to hide from the whole family, you need to be out of the family sharing plan.
