Q: GREY SCREEN EVERY MORNING FOR 1 MINUTE ?

Every morning I get the grey screen for 1 minute?

This is 2 days after upgrading to El Capitan. Done the first aid thingy. Nothing.

Checked that I have no log in items.

Can you provide us some more details of what is happening?

What are you doing that causes the grey screen?

Are you first powering on the computer?

Are you waking the computer from sleep mode?

Is the screen a plain grey screen?

What happens after the grey screen?

Laptop works fine all day. Close it maybe 5 times a day and it opens perfectly with normal desktop showing immediately.

Close it at night. Remains closed maybe for 10 hours.

On the first opening in the morning the screen is grey. I can see my desktop icons through the grey. There is a progress bar bar just above the dock consisting of little white dots moving slowly to right. Takes a minute then clears to normal desktop and works perfectly again all day.

I did the upgrade on Sunday 20th and the grey story only started on Wednesday.

I just open the laptop without touching any keys.

    Thanks

    Noted.

I hardly ever plug out the AC connection. Never leave an app open or work in progress.

This happened years ago to a previous Mac and was solved but I don't remember how......( too old !!)

Should I leave it or soldier on ?

    Seems OK this morning !!!!

I removed iTunes helper from startup items and cleared 13,000 ! cache items..................

Opened perfectly and immediately to my normal desktop.

    Will check again tomorrow morning.

    thanks all.
