Q: MacBook Pro mid 2012 slow after MacOS 10.11.3 update

MacBook pro is sluggish when using Mail Calendar and other native apps and everyday tasks. Always need many clicks to do something, switching active windows or even apps freezing and crashing.  Processors do not show any remarkable load, so seems like there is something that software is waiting from the network or somewhere. Wireless network also disappearing sometimes. Then takes some time to come back or I have to switch wifi off-on to make it work again.

    Answer to E:

Kernel_task is taking 2,4GB, Safari is next with 346M

    Thanks,

went all through except the Tunnelblick, which is Barracuda VPN client and it takes some time to get the update. After restarting kernel-task was 600MB, after running Safari it was 1,5GB and closing the Safari did not free the memory.

The system is still sluggish. I can test it by switching from app to app, between  from MS Excel, Mail, Pages and then apps become very slow, delays up to 5-10 sec. After some time the app becomes responsive again, but as soon as I switch to another app, I experience sluggish behaviour again. This did not happen, when I made new user.

    A

Please take these steps to resynchronize the iCloud keychain. Your keychain on iCloud and your other Apple devices won't be affected. Take Step 2 only if Step 1 doesn't solve the problem.

    Step 1

    Back up all data.

Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm—the data will remain on the servers. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device. Test.

    Step 2

If you still have problems, uncheck the Keychain box again and continue.

Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:

    ~/Library/Keychains

    In the Finder, select

              Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

A folder named "Keychains" should open. Inside it is a subfolder with a long name similar to (but not the same as) this:

               421DE5CA-D745-3AC1-91B0-CE5FC0ABA128

The above is only an example; yours will have a different name of the same general form. Drag the subfolder (not the Keychains folder) to the Trash and empty.

Restart the computer and re-enable iCloud Keychain.

    B

Please quit and relaunch Safari after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.

Back up all data before making any changes.

    Step 1

The issue can be caused by web pages in the Favorites list that sometimes or always prompt for access with a CAPTCHA. If you know that there are such pages among your Favorites, remove them and see whether there's an improvement. Otherwise bookmark and remove all Favorites, then restore them one or a few at a time until you find the culprits. There may be more than one.

Credit for this observation to ASC member ethereum.

    Step 2

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    ~/Library/Safari

Right-click or control-click the line and select

              Services Open

from the contextual menu.* A folder named "Safari" should open. Quit Safari if it's running. One or more files in the open folder should have a name beginning in "History". Move those files, and only those, to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the files you moved back where they were, overwriting the ones that may have been created in their place. Otherwise, delete the files you moved. The browser history will be empty. If possible, restore the deleted files from a backup that predates the problem.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

              Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    Step 3

Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Safari. Test. Then check the box again, if you wish.

    C

Please open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and disable any Google accounts. The data will remain on Google's servers. See whether there's an improvement. If there is, see below.

Delete the Google contact account. Again, you won't be deleting anything from Google.

Scroll to the bottom of the list of account types (facebook, Linkedin, etc.) and click Add Other Account...

    Click CalDAV account.

Select Manual from the Account Type menu.

Enter your Gmail address as the User Name.

If you've activated 2-step verification, generate an application-specific password in your Google account and enter it instead of the login password you use on the website.

Enter "google.com" (without the quotes) as the Server Address.

    Click Sign In.

    Got solved all issues by:

    Backing up the system.

    Making new admin account.

Setting separate password for the account (not using AppleID account to log on, because it is used already with another user)

Signed in with the same appleID

Copied all documents,  pictures and music libraries to the new account.

All the settings etc, came over through iCloud.

Authorized new computer for importing music library.

Set new permissions to the Pictures folders with following commands:

    sudo chown -R new-username /Users/new-username/Pictures

    sudo chmod -R 700 /Users/new-username/Pictures

Computer fast as rocket, thank you for all the help. Linc Davis help was very useful, I got deleted/repaired some stuff, that was behaving bad in my MAC, but these instructions did not help to solve the issues I had.

    Please remove or update "Tunnelblick."

There is no evidence in the postings that Tunnelblick had been installed on IvoRem's computer. (Perhaps there were other, non-public exchanges?)

"net.sf.tuntaposx.tap", "net.sf.tuntaposx.tun", "/Library/Extensions/tap.kext" and "/Library/Extensions/tun.kext" have never been part of Tunnelblick. They are products of tuntaposx.

Current versions of Tunnelblick include three modified versions of each of these kexts that use net.tunnelblick.tap and net.tunnelblick.tun as identifiers. The modified versions are used on different versions of OS X and are loaded and unloaded as needed (while a VPN is in operation). Very old versions of Tunnelblick (years ago) used "foo.tap.kext" and "foo.tun.kext" identifiers.

Note: to "remove" Tunnelblick, one should use the instructions at Uninstalling Tunnelblick.
