I followed the post: "Create a bootable installer for OS X" (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372)
I followed the steps in the above post (I have done this many times with other OS X's) at least 10 times.
I keep getting the error message after agreeing to the install, "OS X could not be installed on your computer"
I GOOGLED this and found out its a know issue.
I've tried two different 500GB external drives and two different 32GB jump drives, all with the same results.
I've tried the steps in the article, "How to make a bootable OS X 10.11 El Capitan installer drive" from MacWorld with the same results.
I've tried several different downloads of the installer.

Feb 26, 2016 10:39 PM in response to Dennis Hby sberman,Be sure you are reading the instructions in the article very carefully. Also, tell us exactly at which step you see the message "OS X could not be installed..."
- Have you downloaded the OS X installer from the Mac App Store as instructed in the first step?
- Is this installer in your Applications folder where it belongs?
- Is it about 6 gigabytes as it should be?
- Did the installer actually open when the download finished? If so, did you then quit the installer?

( Sorry using my iPad this is tedious trying to "type".)
Yes, yes, yes, yes.and yes.
i Always see the error message after booting to the external and choosing "continue" to install and after choosing the device, the external, and another I "agree".

Feb 27, 2016 5:20 AM in response to Dennis Hby Csound1,Then you are doing something wrong, because it works. You are the only unknown part of the procedure.
Tell me in detail everything from the age and model of your Mac to the filename and size of the installer file. And have you tried a normal App Store install.

Feb 27, 2016 6:03 AM in response to Dennis Hby arthur,Strange. I've used Diskmaker for a few years, always works.
Makes me think there is something wrong with your OS X installation.
Have you used any "cleaners" like CleanMyMac or MacKeeper or anything of that ilk?
Other thoughts:
Repair your HD with Disk Utility.
Reinstall OS X over your current installation.
If you've used any of the "cleaners" , your OS may be effed. In that case you should start over with a clean install.
An etrecheck report may be useful here: http://www.etrecheck.com
