Feb 27, 2016 8:41 AM in response to RBROWN45by ChrisJ4203,If you cannot activate the slide, and the device was advertised as functioning in the eBay auction, I would contact the seller, or open a case with eBay to return the device for a refund. It appears to be non-functioning to me.

Feb 27, 2016 9:07 AM in response to RBROWN45by ChrisJ4203,Well, it seems that you have confirmed that it is non-working. If the screen doesn't work, and is locked, nothing anyone here could recommend, as the device is not user serviceable. Suppose you could seek out a competent 3rd party service if you wish, or check into one of those fixit websites and make your own attempts. Just understand that Apple does not sell parts, and that once opened, Apple does not provide post-warranty support. you could also see about bringing it to Apple to see about purchasing an out of warranty replacement, if possible.

Feb 27, 2016 9:08 AM in response to RBROWN45by lllaass,Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
If that works and yo are asked to enter an ID and password then you are running into the Activation Lock
Find My iPhone Activation Lock
If you can't get the ID or PW and yo can't get the previous owner to do the following yo are out of luck. Apple will not helphttps://support.apple.com/kb/PH2700?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US

Feb 27, 2016 11:49 AM in response to ChrisJ4203by RBROWN45,Yeah,I know about the parts and warranties etc, have replaced screens and lcds and a few batteries on these. Was looking to see if there was a solution to this issue or perhaps someone knew what "mode" this is in or if in a "mode" as it restored but still appears locked out. Will take your advise and check other sites as you say nothing anyone here can offer.

Feb 27, 2016 12:06 PM in response to RBROWN45by ChrisJ4203,If what Illaass provided doesn't help, then I don't know. I'm not sure about that lock icon on the Touch, since I've never owned one. I've looked in the User Guide about icons, and that doesn't appear, but then, the User Guide is for the latest iOS, so this could be from an older one. I tried a search, and the closest I could find was that this lock icon identifies the lock screen. Must be something unique to the iPod Touch.
