Q: my ipod switches between songs on its own

Hello,

I have a 7th gen ipod nano I've had it for 3 years and recently it has started acting weird. I will select a song and then by itself it will play different songs in a few seconds. Then it will tell me the song and artist I'm listening too without me even pressing buttons. I was wondering if there is a fix to this problem?

First, if you have not already, do a Reset (restart) of the iPod

Learn how to reset your iPod - Apple Support

If the problem recurs...  Your iPod nano can receive remote control signals from headphones that have control buttons on the cord.  Even if your headphones do not have control buttons, it may be sending false signals.  Make sure the headphones plug is fully inserted into the headphones jack.  It should "click" into place.  You can still get audio when partially inserted, but the connection points on the plug may not be aligned properly (causing false signals).

If that does not help, try a different set of headphones to see if the problem goes away.

If that does not help either, you may want to do a Restore on the iPod using iTunes, in case the iPod has data corruption.  This erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and sets it to default settings.

Hello, Thank you for reply. I just remembered I had dropped my ipod and one side of the headphone jack is a little pushed it. Could that be the problem? Would using bluetooth headphones help?

If you noticed this problem at about the same time you dropped the iPod and caused the damage, then that may be the cause.  If possible, you should try different (corded) headphones to see if it makes a difference, to rule out faulty headphones as the cause.

If you use Bluetooth headphones, the iPod should not use the headphones jack at all.  However, I do not have experience using Bluetooth headphones (or an iPod that may have a faulty headphones jack).

I have tried two different types of headphones and it happens with both, but the work fine in my phone. I'll try some bluetooth headphones. Thank yall for your help!
