Q: iPhone 6 contacts not appearing in mac address book. Anybody knows why?

I am trying to copy/sync my iPhone 6 contacts to my macbook air 13, but they are not appearing in my mac address book. I have added iCloud in my internet accounts, checked the box for contacts under iCloud, turned on contacts back up in my iPhone 6, but I still can't get contacts in my mac. What am I missing? I have tried the iTunes way as well, but when I open info under my phone in iTunes, it says my contacts are synced over air from iCloud.

Slightly confusing. Help!
