Apple TVIs this with specific or all content, some providers choose to block their content from AirPlay, in which case just the audio will play.

Feb 26, 2016 6:29 AM in response to Winston Churchillby Panther2011,This is with all content, on all devices.
For example, if I connect my iPhone to Apple TV via Airplay to view a video clip that someone has texted me, the audio will play, but the iPhone screen will not display and the video will not display. I only see the Apple TV screen. Same results whether I try this with my iPad or my MacPro.

Feb 26, 2016 6:45 AM in response to Winston Churchillby Panther2011,Thanks WC. Appreciate forwarding those links.
However, I've seen these pages already. I'll go through it again, though, just to triple check that I haven't mossed something. Don't think it's a network issue, because I can connect without problem using any device.

Feb 26, 2016 7:41 AM in response to Panther2011by Rudegar, the general cure for most seem to be to restart the ios device Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
and power cycle the router (this mean disconnecting the power from the router for 30sec and then reconnecting it to ac)
another thing is that some people confuse airplay audio and air play mirror to do airplay mirror you swipe up from the button of the ios device and choose airplay from there
if you do it from inside some other app then you are usually just making what used to be called airtunes which is just audio

Feb 26, 2016 7:48 AM in response to Rudegarby Panther2011,I've rebooted everything, Apple TV included. I even tried putting Apple TV on a second TV. Same results.
When I attempt to put my iPhone up on the TV, I swipe up from the bottom of the iPhone and then select Apple TV from the menu options.

Apple TVI don't suppose you are able to test your equipment elsewhere to determine whether this is a problem with the Apple TV, your phone or your network. It's usually the network where the problem is.

Feb 28, 2016 2:39 AM in response to Panther2011by Rudegar, test it on another network anyway if it fail the same way you likely have a defect product and can return it under warranty
on the other hand if you just return it and they test it and it works like a charm then you would have wasted their time.
