Q: Unread mail showing in All Inboxes only with iOS9

Just upgraded to iOS9 this morning and having a weird issue. My Mail app is showing a badge for 1 unread email, though I have none. When I look at all of my mailboxes (I have two accounts linked), the unread message shows up ONLY in the All Inboxes folder, not under either of the mail accounts individually. I have tried the following:

- Enabled the Unread Mail smart folder. This shows the same 1 unread message but when I open it, it say I have no unread messages

- Turned off each mail account individually. Turning off either account eliminates the unread message flag, so it isn't associated with just one of the accounts

Turning back the off account back on brings back the flags.

- Gone in to each account, selected all messages, marked them read then marked them unread

- Hard reset - no change.

Any thoughts here? This is feeling like a bug.

    That

would certainly fit with my experience, although I don't think that TalkTalk were quite so helpful; that required a more determined effort to ensure that it was added as an IMAP account, because it still defaulted to POP3.

Hotmail account was my issue too. Deleted account and added back. No more issues.

    Pretty easy fix.

Hi guys, This problem occured way before iOS9. There is really only one solution which Apple also (years ago) gave as the solution: you have to remove the mailaccount in iOS(9) and reinstall i your account. I had the same problem before on another iPad with another iOS. And I had this also on iOS9. I just removed the faulty account and reinstalled it and gone was the error. I could do this simple removal, because I use this mailbox as a redundant one on my iPad.. If yóu don't work this way, make sure to backup your mailbox, contacts etc. before removing and reinstalling your account. Good luck!

I have the same issue... I have a temporary fix, And untill the permanant fix comes out, i will contuinue with the temporary one because having phantom emails just drives me crazy

    Go to;

Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calender>(Email account used, in my case "Exchange")> Turn off mail... Hard restart on phone, go back through the settings and turn it back on

Unfortunately this only lasts half- to a full day and the emails start showing up again

    It helps manage the chaos,

    This helped me.

I used the Edit to mark all as unread. Then again to mark all as read and it fixed it for me.

This problem is easily solved by going to MAILBOXES in email (list of accounts) and pressing the edit button.  Select the "All Mailboxes" and any other you may fancy being shown such as "All Trash."

That's it!  You got your "All Mailboxes" back.

I also have this issue and no successful fix.

    Iphone 6 - ios9.

    - Tried sending test email from mail account on phone to themselves.

    - Tried turning off mail, then hard reset, then re-enabling mail.

    - Deleted mail account, hard reset, then re-added account.

    Problem persists.

** Apple - please provide a solution to this issue. Otherwise, we'll have to look at Windows or Android phones for our paid business users. At least they work with Exchange Server (after initial setup )

    Good luck to others.

I also have 'unread' emails in one of my mailboxes.  My circumstances are slightly different:

IMAP account used for last 4 years on an iPhone and Outlook.  Only in last 4 months have I had 3 'unread' emails in the inbox.  I have deleted all spam and unread emails in the outlook app of the account but the 'unread' IOS mails on my I6 (with latest IOS) don't go away.  I also searched IOS mail app for unread mails but I don't have any.  My POP accounts on the same phone are OK.  The 'unread' mails only show in the mail app and not on the home screen mail icon.

I don't plan to reinstall my accounts as I can live with it and reading the posts it sounds like there is no certainty of deleting the 'unread' mails.

I have iOS 9.3 the latest and greatest on all my devices.

I am on my iPad Air 2 and it shows 2 unred mail in the Outlook folder but none on the Mail icon

    which I live with

ALso the auto correct still screws up studf on either my iPhone 6, iPhone 6+ or iPad

so I keep it off......where did Apple learn to spreak english? In Russia?

I don't get it, spend thousands to be in the Apple ecosystem on stuff and it is only 98% reliable

for the miney should be 101% ALL THE TIME
