Q: Adjustments not creating new versions

Hi everyone

First of all thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this...

Context:

Since trying to install some new software (Adobe CC and Lightroom 5 and PS5) I've been having multiple crashes and issues with Aperture.

Prior to this eveything has been working tremendously well for a ong time, including multiple plug-ins (Nik suite, CS4, others)

Was using OS10.6.8 and Aperture3.2.4, upgraded to 10.8.5 and 3.4.5 in January 2016 - everything still worked beautifully having tested via cloned drive beforehand.

Another Apple support community helped with the uninstall of CC and checking for possible issues related to the flawed CC release earlier Feb. 2016.

Problem:

  • In whatever library I have or now create (e.g. as a test) adjustments to newly imported photos do not create new versions. Old photos/projects etc still work and will create new versions
  • Aperture preferences are set to create new versions when making adjustments. Trashed preferences, repair database and permissions, and reinstaling 3.4.5 haven't helped.
  • So, how can I get Aperture to create new versions when making adustments again...

Regards

Gerard

    Hi Léonie

Problem solved (I think) after more searching on internet.

At some point after upgrade to Aperture 3.4.5 I added a preset to the import dialogue when importing photos  (the old highlights/shadow adjustment panel).

As noted in another post, if the master image is in the library with adjustments on it via import, it doesn't create a new version when additional adjustments are added.

I can still add the old highlights/shadow adjustment panel later as an effect.

The reason guest accounts worked OK was because I hadn't created the import preset there.

(And I've found that iTunesHelper.app - location had changed since upgrading iTunes)

THANK YOU for all your time and effort.

    Regards

Good sleuthing, Gerard.!  I'm glad you could solve it.

Then moving out the presets from the "Application Support > Aperture" folder should have made a difference. I wonder, why that did not take.
