What do you mean?
Ethernet is a kind of network with cable ( usually UTP category 5 or above ), not wireless.
The wireless network supported Mac now is usually called Wi-Fi, which has no relation to the recent problem noted in HT205956.

Actually, it doesn't need to be Wi-Fi, in my understanding.
Wi-Fi is just one of most commonly available path to Internet.
I heard there is at least a user reported successful recovery with iPhone tethering. ( not exactly same way as apple's instruction though )
I guess USB-Ethernet adapter can be used as alternative too.
