If it doesn't automatically pair again, try removing the mouse from System Preferences > Bluetooth > Devices
Then turn off Bluetooth on your computer, and turn off the device you are trying to connect. Then turn the Bluetooth back on and power your device on. See if you can pair it now.

We have changed batteries several times. The computer is "thinking" trying to find the mouse but that's going on way too long.
