Q: Double reciprocal plot

Dear all,

I am trying to make a double reciprocal plot (Lineweaver Burk) for a study in enzyme activity.  I saw the plot done on Excel but am not able to find

a similar solution in Numbers.  I tried using the Forecast function and also tried putting an estimate of values in my columns to get my trend bar to reach

into the negative numbers.  No luck for far.  How do I get the trend line to cross the Y axis??  I just don't know the technical steps to make the chart.

I am using Numbers 3.6.1. and have a MacBook Pro from 2012.

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Jonelle

to format a cell, select the cell(s) then open the cell formatter:

select the "Number" selection from the "Data Format" pop-up menu.  now you can set the number of decimal places

Thanks Wayne,  I didn't think to change the format and now that I have, even my graph is behaving better.  Nevertheless, its not usual to provide all those significant figures when writing the equation for the regression line?  I really appreciate your help these last days Wayne.  I will use everything I learned.

    Best regards,

    Jonelle

Wayne, I was reviewing your response.  Thank you.  I am wondering how I enter the X values in Numbers when I have inhibitors with two different concentrations.  I  tried putting the values for -1/Km in the x Column but it disturbed my graph.  I have placed my Numbers table below.  Two values were removed from the No inhibitor data in order to improve my Km value later.

    Thank you,

    Jonelle
