Mar 2, 2016 9:05 PM in response to rayverby LACAllen,★HelpfulVimeo? YouTube?
iCloud is not really built for streaming a file of that size.

Mar 2, 2016 3:14 AM in response to rayverby léonie, but when I tried to use iCloud photo sharing it wanted to cut it back to 5 minutes
iCloud Photo sharing is free, independent of the paid iCloud subscription, and so the uploads are limited.
iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ - Apple Support
Videos will be reduced in size and resolution:
iCloud Photo Sharing supports both MP4 and QuickTime video file types, and H.264 and MPEG-4 Video file formats. Videos can be up to 5 minutes in length and are delivered at up to 720p resolution.

Mar 2, 2016 9:17 PM in response to LACAllenby rayver,Thanks. I did try you tube. The trouble is it is a private video of a long trip. I only want to link to it via a private blog of the trip participants. Trouble is there is a bit of music in it that Sony (SME) says they have copyrighted, probably a couple of minutes of the whole video! I don't want to have to go through the hoops and cost of getting permission to use it. I don't see why it is a problem when I was only planning on posting it privately. I had a look at Vimeo but they only let you upload 500mb a week, so this video is bigger, 1.2gb. Any other ideas?

Mar 2, 2016 10:42 PM in response to rayverby LACAllen,Sorry...iCloud does not stream files of that size at all. Paid or not. It is not a streaming service.

Mar 3, 2016 12:25 AM in response to rayverby LACAllen,★HelpfulNo other ideas. that is a huge file and not many of the services are going to stream that for you for free.
And on the music thing... private or not, you do not have the right to use music in your productions.
Do you have a blog? If so, you may have to host it on your own space.

Posting a video or sound file on the internet is a public performance, even if only selected people can view it.
Put the video into your Dropbox folder and send the link by email. Your friends will have to download the video to watch it.

Mar 3, 2016 12:29 AM in response to LACAllenby rayver,Thanks again. I understand what you are saying about copyright, but when it is such a small amount on a video thats going to just be privately shown, not accessible by the world at large, it doesn't seem any different to me to the old days of making a tape to play in the car from music you had legitimately purchased! Times change. Looks like I am not going to be able to share it other than via DVD, but wanted to move into the new world!

Mar 3, 2016 12:31 AM in response to léonieby rayver,Thanks Leonie. I did try dropbox but it says it will only show 15 mins of the movie via a shared link.
-
Mar 3, 2016 12:49 AM in response to rayverby léonie,That is why I posted the link to the dropbox help. It will only play 15 minutes from the link, if you try to stream it. But your friends should be able to save the full video to their computers from the link to your dropbox.
Otherwise burn the video to DVD and send a data DVD.
