Q: Macbook Pro keeps getting kernel panic

Hello Folks,

my Macbook Pro mid 2010 has issues since a few days. It keeps shutting itself off. I saved 2 of the error reports:

It usually shuts itself off and afterwards this blackscreen and "no ram installed beep" appears. After switching it on and off again it starts up to work for another few minutes/hours. I already put in new RAM, but it didn´t solve the problem. Do you have any ideas? Thanks for helping!

The first panic log you posted suggests a problem with USB. If you have any third-party USB devices connected I suggest you disconnect them. If this is not the case, then there is some hardware problem involving them. Please make an appointment at the Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar and take it in for service. If you are not in the USA or cannot set up an appointment this way, then contact your local Apple Store directly.

The 2nd panic leads me to believe you have failing RAM

Generally these single bit errors occur because the RAM is failing to hold water so to speak.

If this is original RAM, suggest you talk to Apple. If this is 3rd party RAM, suggest you contact your vendor and see about getting a replacement set of RAM cards.

You can also run Rember overnight to see if it will pick up the errors.

I already replaced the RAM (with an original Apple-RAM). Did not solve the problem.
And I doubt running a program overnight is possible as my Macbook is turning itself off after an hour (plus minus a few minutes)

Is there any possibility of getting to know which part is the one to replace?

While defective RAM is the most common cause for single bit memory changes, it is not the only. The motherboard could be failing.

I would first try booting into Safe Mode to eliminate the possibility there is 3rd party software involved

If the system stays up longer than the 1 hour, you could try running Rember to see if it detects issues.

But all in all, you might want to make a Genius Bar appointment at you local Apple Store, and get your system hardware evaluated.

You can try shutting down the computer and taking ½ of the RAM out. Restart and test. If the problem continues, shutdown and swap the RAM with the piece(s) you previously removed. Trying to isolate to see if one piece of RAM is bad.
