Feb 24, 2016 3:04 PM in response to Don H.by Daniel Figucio1,Removing the iCal preferences file as per " calendar only opens half height since El Capitan " worked for me. Has not been a problem since.
There seemed to be a lot of saved data in the prefs file - but my accounts came back straight away and everything else was just some minor tweaking.
Daniel.

Feb 24, 2016 4:32 PM in response to corvairkidby Daniel Figucio1,Why? Given that I tried 2 weeks ago and have tested since I was reporting that the method worked for me.
In addition, I can show and hide calendar lists, etc - so it isn't a temporary workaround awaiting me to post again here as you said in one of your earlier posts on the thread I did actually read.
It may be that this may not work for everyone, but that does not mean you immediately discount it as a potential solution.
So, byeeeee!

I was not referring to your post, but to a few other ones before yours.
Please forgive me.

Mar 3, 2016 9:06 PM in response to igizby Daniel Figucio1,Hi Igiz,
The only problem here is that it requires you to remember to hide the list every time you want to close the app or restart your computer.
Its been 3 weeks now since I removed my iCal preferences. I have not had to do it again, and I don't need to remember to hide the list, nor do I appear to lose anything by removing the prefs file. My windows still work as expected.
I'm curious - has anyone else tried removing the preferences file? Did it work for them? I just want to make sure that I wasn't just lucky.

Mar 4, 2016 12:26 AM in response to Daniel Figucio1by igiz,Hi L1,
I know what you mean. I have tried everything and this is - as far as I figured out - the only way.
I do not need the calendars list, therefore it works fine for me and if I keep hiding the list, the window opens the same way, it was closed.
Unfortunately, I can not give an other advice and I hope that apple reacts on that issue, soon.
I suppose nobody is happy the way apple keeps its silence.
Have a great day
igiz

Mar 4, 2016 12:58 AM in response to igizby Daniel Figucio1,Are you referring to my post?
Closing the calendar list is not the only way. I recommend cleaning out the preferences file.
THe the problem is symptomatic of some preferences corruption, or change in the way the application stores the window positioning data. By cleaning out the preference file, you allow the application to rebuild that data from scratch. If the problem continues then there is a bug in the application or you may have a damaged disk drive.
if it is corruption in the preferences file, then your application may become unstable, resulting in real data loss.
Daniel.

I've removed the preferences file and it didn't work. You're lucky.

Mar 5, 2016 4:12 AM in response to Don H.by G.Madigan,Since adding a calendar (Astronomical Events*), I haven't seen this resizing issue happen after a few weeks. But, I would be far from calling this a solution. With this latest 10.11 El Capitan version of Mac OS X, I have yet to see any Apple app that isn't messed up, often beyond recognition in attractive appearance, added/deleted basic functions, Steve Jobs' high quality or a usable/good GUI. I will have to try systematic testing when I have the time and inclination to fix (yet another) Apple OS X quality oversight or a work-around for a new lame idea.
*I wouldn't rely on this particular link as any cure — http://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/students.uu.nl_plp5j8bh2qsjfloqi6qifsis 28%40group.calendar.google.com/public/ba…
— but, nice to have.
Good luck to my fellow Mac users.
As with elections, my choice is no longer one of quality, just the least worst of the options placed in front of me.

May 8, 2016 5:19 AM in response to Don H.by Tim Harper,Calendar has always remembered its position in my case, but I had this problem with Messages. I finally solved it by unticking
System Preference- General -Close windows when quitting an app
It may be applicable to other apps that don't remember their position.

May 12, 2016 10:37 AM in response to Tim Harperby jkwuc89,The suggestions on Re: calendar only opens half height since El Capitan relating to removing and adding an Exchange account did the trick for me. After removing my Exchange account, Calendar with the Calendars bar open saves and properly restores its Window size. And Calendar continues to save/restore its Window size after re-adding my Exchange account.
