Q: How Do I keep Two Applications Running Simultaneously and Visible on my Desktop ?

I am running two amateur radio shareware programs (FLDIGI v 3.23.08 and FLRIG v 1.3.24) simultaneously on my iMac running OS X 10.11.3. These are companion programs that interact with each other and control a radio. The problem that I am having is that whenever I click on anything in FLDIGI, FLRIG immediately minimizes and I have to restore it. When I click on FLRIG, FLDIGI remains on the desktop. Both programs need to be running and visible on the desktop at the same time.

I’m hopeful that the solution to this problem is a setting in OS X. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello Brian,
For 3rd party software, you would have to contact the developers. If these two apps are so intertwined, then they should recognize that.

There are ways to ensure that the other is always running if you launch one, but I don't know of a way to automatically make them both visible on the desktop at the same time.

Just wondering, but you do not by any chance have "Simple Finder" enabled in System Preferences -> Parental Controls, do you?

Otherwise, I suspect etresoft has the right idea.
