I understand that your Mac is not starting up as expected after you enter your administrator password. We know that issues like this can be frustrating, but we’re here to help.
To continue troubleshooting, I would suggest reading over the information in the following article and try starting up your Mac in safe mode.

Mar 6, 2016 7:44 AM in response to twirlygirlby Patmaclondon,Try to start using safe boot (Hold the shift button during start up) and see if you can login that way. There seems to be a corruption in your Library folder.
I've seen this problem before, if you can login with safe boot go to the go menu in the Finder while holding the ALT key and click on library. move the preferences folder on to the desktop and clear the cache folder. reboot and see if it works. I would also recommend doing a disk check using Disk Utility just in case.
