Q: Why does my phone say "no sim card installed"? There is one.

I tried pulling out my sim card a few times but it still didn't work. I then tried restarting my phone which worked for about one hour and the message "no sim card installed" again. This time even after I tried restarting my phone, it still marks "so SIM card installed". Help please.

I may want to mention that the screen is cracked (a fine crack) from one corner to another. It has been like this for over a year.

Did you already try the troubleshooting mentioned in this article?
If you get an alert about the SIM card in your iPhone - Apple Support

If the screen broke because the phone has been dropped or bent, this might also have damaged some parts inside the phone, maybe also the Sim tray, and now the Sim can't be read anymore properly.
