Q: How do I set my mac server to it's default ip address

Our company has a mac pro server tower mid 2010. It has two ethernet ports. Ethernet 1 is what we use for server/network access. Ethernet 2 is our tandberg tape drive that has it's own ip settings for browser use to enter the portal for it's backup features. This has suddenly started happening. We had a power outage and when the server was restarted it changed the ip address to the address of the tape drive. In order for me to reset it to our server's ip address I have to shut the server down, unplug the ethernet 2 cable and restart. Every time now this happens. When I'm remote doing server maintenance I have to be physically in the office that next morning to reset the ip address. Everything still works fine for us no matter what ip address it uses but we cannot use our photo library browser service because that's attached to the server's ip address. When we use a browser to access our photo library it says page cannot be found because it can't connect to the server ip address. Is there a way to make sure the server's ip address is set to be it's default? Sorry if this sounds confusing. I've tried searching on my own and have had no luck finding a solution. Thanks to all for reading. Andy

Try this...   > System Preferences > Network > gear > Set Service Order > place the appropriate Ethernet network interface first, and the Tandberg network interface after that.  Also make sure the Tandberg network is in a different subnet from the "main" network.

Thanks for responding MrHoffman. My service order is correct and my subnet is the same for both devices. Tonight I will change the tandberg subnet's last three 255 to 0 and see what happens. I'll report back. Thanks!

Subnet 255.255.255.255 (also referred to as /32, in somewhat "newer" networking notation) means there's one host.  That it's a point-to-point link.   If the Tanberg is the only thing on that link and it's point-to-point, then a /32 likely does work in terms of the IP configuration.    Now if that IP address exists on both networks, then things can get weird.   But I'd still prefer to use a different subnet for different NICs and different network segments.

Both the IP and router address for the tandberg start with 172 and doesn't have a DNS. Our company network IP and router start with 192. The subnets for both is 255.255.255.0. I was going to try 255.255.0.0 to see if it then reverts back to the 192 server IP address after unplugging the ethernet 2 cable and restart this evening.
