Q: Add second OS X in the same MacbookPro

Hello folks, I wanted to know how can I install another OSX in my Macbook Pro. Right now I have OSx Capitan, it works really good except with my Dj Console. So, what I did till now is to create a new partition called Yosemite and I found a Yosemite 10.10.3.dmg that seams to work. What I want right now is to install this OSx in the new partition and at my mac start I want to choose between Capitan and Yosemite, this will solve my problem because with Yosemite my DjConsole used to work fine.

Can any of you give me the steps to burn and install this the correct way? thanks a lot!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), MD318

Is the disk already partitioned? If so, download the OS installer on the existing partition and when it starts there will be a screen that allows you to select the new partition for installation. If that doesn't answer your question, could you provide more information about where you are in the process?

Yes, the disk is already partitioned like this:

    ST9500325ASG Media

-> Macintosh HD  **this one has Capitan OSX*

-> YOSEMITE *in this partition I want to install the YOSEMITE*

I have downloaded Yosemite 10.10.3.dmg and inside there are this folders:

    Applications

    bin

    dev

    etc

    Install OS X Yosemite

    Library

    private

    sbin

    System

    tmp

    usr

    var

    Volumes

I am currently here. I have a 8GB USB so I can create a bootable USB but not sure of how to go ahead. Any ideas? thanks a lot!

Start here to create a USB installer with Yosemite. Afterwards you will have to boot from it to install Yosemite to your available Yosemite partition. You won't be able to from within El Capitan.
