Q: No USB connections work with the adapter for the charging port.

In my macbook, (I do not know if it just the model I got or every model), but there are only two holes to plug something in. There is the headphone jack and then the charging port. I purchased an adapter to make the charging port a USB port. Even though I can connect a USB now to my computer, almost none of the functions I need to use work. It does not pick up my printer when connected and the main reason I purchased this was to make music and record music. I spent $600 on a home studio and my laptop does not pick up the microphone when that is connected. I am extremely ****** about this. How does it feel to own a laptop where you cannot connect anything to it besides the charger and headphones? Not that good. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I just need a different model? Please help.

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), null

If the computer model MacBook is having issues with the main port (USB-C) and it appears

to be a technical problem, you could take the unit to a retail Apple Store and have a genius

inspect the computer, and it may be under warranty still if a repair may be required.

    • Using the USB-C port and adapters on your MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) - Apple Support

If the computer is an older model, or not the MacBook Retina 12-inch, Early 2015 build model,

you may need to identify the model correctly and isolate the problem using troubleshooting

skills. To use a quality port adapter and not a third-party component for testing is advised.

Depending on your location, country, or region, your options may vary for sales support, service

and other contact to authorized Apple service, sales and support in your area. If you bought the

computer from an official retail Apple Store or from Apple Store official web site, you have return

options that differ from authorized reseller independent businesses. If under 14-days, in some

areas, you may return a computer to Apple if bought direct from an official Store or official Site.

If you have specific needs where using the USB-C adapters is not satisfactory, you may consider

the MacBook Pro series where more ports of specific purpose are included in the hardware.

    Good luck & happy computing!
