Old Toad - I can do some things on a computer, but am still not very literate.  I watched a YouTube video on transferring my iWeb content from one computer (2007 Macbook Pro running Lion 10.7.5) to a desktop also running Lion.It looked pretty easy and I found everything OK except the file in iWeb was only labeled "domain" without ".sites.2"  Then I followed the directions for the transfer, but I have the same problem as Jimmy Loh and skookumchick - I was unable to get iWeb on the receiving computer to open the transferred domain file from the older computer.; it only opened a new site/templates.  I also am afraid I may have accidentally overwritten the older version of iWeb domain by not realizing how or when I should use the "save" or "don't save" buttons!!  (I am not at all familiar with what you mean to make an Applescript application out of the copied "/usr/bin ...etc", so I did not try that!)  If I indeed "lost" the old website domain, is there any way to get it back??  (I'm feeling way out of my league & would not like to start re-creating our website from scratch!! I checked and our website, www.tiemeierstudios.com, is still accessible on the web... if that could also help me retrieve it!) Thanks for whatever advice you can give me!

What version of iWeb do you have on the old computer?  If it was iWeb 3 then add the .sites2 extension to the Domain file. Put it in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Move any existing domain files out of the iWeb folder to the Desktop first.  Then launch iWeb and it should find and open that domain file.

On the "About iWeb" window, it says "3.0.4 (601)". Is that version 3?  I tried your suggestion, but it appears I have "lost" the website completely!! It is no longer on the old computer, or on the flash drive, or on the newer computer!!  At one point early on in the "trying to get it to show up" process, a drop down box appeared asking if I wanted to "save changes".  Thinking it had to do with a NEW site, I clicked "don't save".  Now I'm beginning to think I overwrote the old version/old domain, even though it still shows there are 322.6 MB in the file!! Plus it says it was last opened 2 1/2 hours ago even though I have kept trying to open it at least 6-8 times since then... Is it completely lost??

Yes.  That's version 3.  Do you still have the original domain file on your old computer?  If so copy it again over to your new computer and try again.

It appears to be gone! But I do have a backup Time Machine disk that should have the old file on it if I can figure out how to get to it!! (Never done that yet!;)) I'll work on that - thanks for your help though!

Follow the instructions in this screenshot.  It's for restoring an iPhoto library but the basic principle works for any file.

You just have to get to your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to select and restore the library.

Thank you, thank you!!  ALL is working now!! Restored old iWeb from Time Machine, transferred it to newer computer, and it seems to be working fine!!  This may have taken an old-timer like me most of the day, but perseverance and your help got the job done!! Now on to the next "job" - updating the website!!
